@patriciahoke4722 Wow! I hope you're not a doctor. Dr. Campbell is an experienced academic. His point about the lack of references is something a 2nd year undergraduate should fully appreciate. His pointing out that the lead author in one of the papers was an undergraduate is crucial. If these are people with such stellar reputations, then why isn't there reference to a properly formed academic paper, even if it's pre-review? You don't need to be "in the medical field" to appreciate the lack of quality in the article. And talking about reputation... Don't governments have a reputation for lying?

If you had a solid knowledge and understanding of history, you would appreciate the analogy. You only need to listen to Justin Trudeau to hear words taken directly from the mid-century Germans.

@twmd Even though this is 4 months ago, you should have know that debunk was a political word, chosen deliberately by Dr. Campbell, because of its widespread use by the media. You are either an agent of the legacy media and their authoritarian masters or you are deeply ignorant of the state of things. Reporters should still use citations. Even if it were "discovered" by this student, the student should have been listed as second author for exactly this reason; he's a student and students inherently lack credibility. It's a shitty game, but that's how it's played.

@helmutsilver5006 No, he's an academic, analysing the article from an academic perspective. He's applying the standards that have been developed over the past 350 years to critique an article from a media outlet and the paper they are referring to. Do you even have a degree?

@helmutsilver5006 Wow, that escalated quickly. As someone who voted to leave the EU, I'd like to give you a heartfelt "fuck you". It was nothing to do with Russia, that's JustAnotherCope™ from the losers who are sad their totalitarian "New Roman Empire", sorry "Union" is collapsing. The only people creating division in the US are the so-called Democrats, who are the ones pushing Russia as a villain and the overreaction to COVID. Truth is freedom and Dr. Campbell is on the side of freedom. Russia is only a threat because European nations are run by feckless and corrupt people who spend their people's money on vanity projects and feathering their own nests instead of maintaining military capabilities that would hold Russia at bay. Russia only has 150 million people. German alone has 85 million AND has a larger economy (purchasing power parity). The Germans could, quite comfortably, have a sufficiently large military to ensure Russia would not be a threat and yet, they don't. This is all before one considers France, Austria, Poland and all the other smaller European nations whose interests are against a dominant Russia. I'll be the first to point out many of the hangovers from the Cold War, but kinetic conflict with Russia is way down the list.

The only people blocking potential treatments have been the ones on YOUR side. In the absence of a tailored treatment, massive amounts of energy have been invested in showing IVM and HCQ don't work, when they could've done studies right away.

@helmutsilver5006 Wow, how to say "I don't have a degree", without saying "I don't have a degree". There's 2 fundamental issues with your screed with respect to Dr Campbell: 1. A Ph.D IS a track record, by definition. 2. He is speaking against the orthodoxy. Everything else you wrote is typical waffle/cope from someone who doesn't have a degree and is insecure about it. If I view it that way, you can be pretty sure others do too. Beyond that, do you know what his clinical practice history is? Your words say that you don't, so how can you comment as to his competence? WHY would you make such a attack, when you have no evidence to work from? Because you are an ideological actor who is simply attempting to couch his attacks in pseudoscience. Getting a degree isn't that hard if you're interested and have above average intelligence. But maybe that explains why you don't have one?

Einstein went against "the consensus" and had to work hard to overcome the inertia - this is not a flaw in the system, it is a feature. The failure occurs when one is no longer able to question "the consensus" or arguments are not taken on their merits; when people say "there is a consensus, so the issue is settled". For anyone to claim there is consensus with respect to almost anything related to SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19 is almost certainly a political actor. Anyone who uses "consensus" as a means to shutdown debate is probably up to no good.
