@gd303uk I would suggest you're not familiar with the business model of insurance companies. "Follow the money" is absolutely the correct analysis. Insurance companies work by making long-term bets on how long people live, how many (and how severe) storms will be. They then collect premiums so that they will get more money in than they will need to pay out. If you're in the "future prediction business" and insurance companies are paying you big bucks, then that only adds credibility; all the tropes about insurance companies are right - they HATE giving money to anyone and they won't do it purely for "political" reasons, as you're suggesting.
