  1. This is a fundamental flaw in the US system. The idea that prosecutors should be a political office is itself utterly insane. It's a ridiculous idea on its face, but even if it weren't, how does having them elected separately from say a mayor or governor improve things? Reality is that it does the opposite - it diffuses responsibility, so that no one has to take responsibility.
