  1. The UK Government borrowed £20 Billion last month, which is the equivalent of £240 Billion per annum. Basic Income 1p tax rise would raise £5.5 Billion, therefore to balance the Government Budget would require an increase of more than 43% to raise basic income tax from 20% to 63% for every £1 earned and the next Labour Government has said thay there will be no tax increases.
