  1. IMF usually insists on 1% above the inflation rate in order to control Inflation. The problem is even if Interests were raised to 11.5% this would not curb inflation as the estimate for the inflation rate being stated is probably not even half that of the real world. Of course a 20% Volcker interest rate would see a collapse of the financial system, equities and therefore savings and pensions would be 'And its Gone' in South Park parlance.
