If the UK Gold Reserves of 300 tons (was 310 tons before the Nazanin Zaghari payment) was used to pay for the UK oil consumption and these despotic countries demand gold as payment for oil, then the gold reserves would last around 3-4 months. Its not like the UK has 18,000 tons of gold that was used to pay to the Americans to pay for lend lease before and during WW2.
