Mastodon is not one place, it cannot be owned by any one entity, so it cannot be bought and it cannot be controlled by any one faction.. but every user can have a say in what kind of content they see and pass on. You can plug into the firehose and see the unfiltered stream of everything or huddle in your own comfortable corner with your homies.
