Vicente Sousa not really. if the service is bad then why should the customer have to pay for that service. most quality servers will earn far more in tips than they would at a base salary plus most don't claim their full tips if it's in cash. I myself tip at least 30%+ as long as the service is acceptable (there's only been a couple times when it was not).

hotu 30%+ is the appropriate amount unless the service is awful. same goes for hairstylist and bartenders.

Howhaveyouben you're assuming they are claiming all their tips. it's a well known fact that the vast majority only claim a small portion of their tips if it's in cash.

Nord ummm i think we agree more than disagree if you took the time to understand my post. the very fact that you mentioned not claiming tips for taxes just goes to prove my point more than disprove it if you claimed all your tips as a server to your employer then there'd be a record of it and you'd have to claim all your tips on your taxes as well.

Mellow Yellow most quality servers will make far more than average wage at a decent restaurant. I knew someone who averaged $50 an hour at a local steak/pizzeria and that was back in the mid 80s.

Nord true enough I'd suppose.
