@etcetera-9 wow, what a story you got, thanks for sharing.
Firstly, totally agree that the orthodox churches in Ukraine do look amazing, especially the ones built in the authentic Ukrainian barocco style, but honestly, for me the peace and quiet of the the Buddhist temples in Asia are way more spiritually full than the gold and pomposity of the orthodox tradition.
I have a similar experience with my spirituality, I can never just believe something because some sacred book says so. This is my biggest problem with Christianity and Islam, even though I totally respect their beliefs. Recently I got also interested in Buddhism as it does not focus on any god or prophet, rather in your personal growth within. I also practiced yoga in Ananda Marga tradition, but don't feel like following their main guru, I just like the yoga and meditation as tools of improving your body and spirit.
And I absolutely agree with you, I appreciate my parents not pushing me in any direction, so I can find my own way. But on the other hand I would appreciate if they at least tried to visit the church more often, I feel like it could bring us closer with each other and the community.
And to answer your question - I can't say I feel an existential lack of meaning in life, especially because I believe in reincarnation. I read the books of Michael Newton - the pioneer of the regressional hypnosis in the US and what he found out about the after life connected some dots for me. And I believe that life on Earth is just a place to learn, grow spiritually, gain, lose, love, find and fulfill some bigger purpose. How to do it right - I have no clue, but that's the beauty of this game🌎
