I had a similar experience, in 2022 after coming to Canada I bought a 2012 Hyundai accent with 142k kilometers on it for 10k CAD and the maintenance and small repairs cost me on average 1500$ per year excluding gas and insurance. Yes, the new car market is crazy now. But there are some relatively affordable cars out there like versa, Elantra, Sentra, mirage. Yes, you have to pay monthly but you buy a peace of mind for at least 5 8that if something happens you're completely covered
