China has half way burned through the workforce which would tolerate anything you throw at them about a decade ago, and today young work force is increasingly revolting against even moderate inconveniences, or just lie flat, do bare minimum, and Chinese worker salaries and costs of living have approached European ones. Long term, there will be another low wage country to offshore to, the advantages China maintains in the foreseeable future is infrastructure, supply routes, and DFM engineering, i.e. it isn't all that nominally cheap to get stufff done in China, but it's quick and efficient to get stuff done in China, since they've got all you need. This points to a missed opportunity: had we lot taken care of infrastructure that way, we would be well equipped to maintain local industry.
That not to negate anything you said, just an aside observation.
