  5. NinjaRider777R Medicare is just a payor (not a government run medical system like the NHS or the VA). My mother has Medicare and I have private, we go to the same hospital and have the same primary dr. And you can’t just negotiate your insurance rates (it’s not like your cable bill or credit card interest rate). And especially not the group insurance you get through your employer.

  6. Sir Loxley Mendoza Among other things, private insurance admin costs are more than 4x the cost of Medicare admin. There are also price controls, and the pool of insureds is higher including young healthy people which brings the costs down.
