  12. Jock Share Rock thanks, you too friend. You’re right, Orange County has long been a conservative bastion for decades on the west coast of Southern California. Socially pretty liberal but financially conservative historically. There’s a reason it was called the “orange curtain”. Lot of big corporate business and richer people in many of the beach cities where the vote was closer than the inland and middle class/working class areas.

  19. Hoireabard wait, what? Are you using some subtle level of irony I’m not detecting?😄 I’m white and Irish too and I don’t feel threatened at all by talk about individual and systemic racism. It needs to be discussed and if it makes us uncomfortable, maybe we need to listen. I don’t know what “extreme rhetoric” you’re referring to and saying everyone is “constantly telling white people they are racist simply because they are white”.

  20. Hoireabard I made no ad hominems. I made a best guess based on the fact that your name is Irish. And the things said in the OP. I meant “we” as in “we white people” as group should listen to others’ history and lived experiences. If that offended you, I’m sorry. Personally I’ve learned a lot by listening to oppressed people even when it made me uncomfortable, and unintentionally made offenses I was ignorant of. And I’m still learning. Sorry if I assumed you’re white and you’re not, I just only see this sort of “white people are racist simply for being white” by other white people. Feel free to expound and explain what you meant and where you’re coming from. I’m all ears.
