  3. Gretchen Murray things were a lot cheaper for your folks “back in the day”. Instead of having that “pull yourself up by the bootstraps” mentality of the GOP, why don’t you try some empathy and see your fellow Americans are struggling? I’ve got two college grads, one who worked themself into sickness because they were terrified of school debt. After watching their sibling go into debt for $10,000 of thousands of dollars for their degree. I want an educated population. We’re falling behind in STEM here. And outsourcing jobs and bringing in people on visas because they’ll work for less. Glad “you got yours”, but we shouldn’t have to condemn the rest of the population because some people are able to make it work in this system, while others kill themselves to do it on their own or go into crippling debt.

  4. Gretchen Murray sorry, no masters degree level incomes here to pay for my kids education. No 6 figure lifestyles. My kids are the first in our family to attend university. And loans didn’t cover everything, there were still out of pocket costs. Thanks for all your assumptions, though. My child who we both took out loans for has $60,000 in debt - half on them, half on us - and works a full time job plus two gig jobs. My other child who paid their way I don’t even remember what the tuition was. But they worked multiple jobs too. And my kids are anything but spoiled or wasting money on frivolous cars, etc. Hope all the strawmen you built made you feel real superior. Keep looking down your nose at other people, seems to be your thing to be judgemental and not want to help society. Sounds like my spouse’s very rightwing “Christian” gun loving, brown-people-hating family. The ones we only spend time with on holidays. Smh

  5. Gretchen Murray how dare I? Did you even read what you wrote in the previous post and all the assumptions you made? Your dad was a milkman. Like I said, “back in the day” it was easier. The day of milkmen is long gone. My parents had us very late in life and my dad was a milkman too. Bernie just recently became a millionaire since his last run selling books. To people like me who bought them. He didn’t get it off the back of hard working people he underpaid, and isn’t an oligarch trying to keep from being taxed like Bloomberg.

  15. Gretchen Murray bring the taxes on. They’re a fraction of what we pay now for private insurance, $800 a month. And $6,000 deductible before the insurance kicks in which comes out of pocket. I don’t even go to the doctor because I spend our money in our kids health which is my priority. Haven’t gone to the dentist, gotten a Pap smear or a mammogram. At least if I die my kids will be set on their path and I’ll remember people like you who thought my death was worth it to avoid paying a little extra tax.

  16. R Nickerson I know, but people out here acting like politics is a game. There’s real people with real needs. We get so caught up in the horserace excitement some forget the real life consequences of just cheering for a personality. And that after day one of “just beating Trump” there’s 4-8 years of our lives being affected. Policy, policy, policy.
