All the healthy eating in the world and healthy weight won’t protect you from many health problems, nor somet like a broken leg.

Damn.

I get those dark thoughts too. Hang in there and let’s fight for M4A!

Where? In California in 1980 just the ambulance ride to the hospital was $100.

malcolm777b acyclovir? Is it related to HSV/chicken pox/shingles?

malcolm777b oh interesting, thanks. The first person I knew who got Bell’s palsy was a kid around ten. Probably not chicken pox at that age but cold sores from a granny kiss.

Carol Mello good luck to you. I hope that is not life threatening. There is a tool on the Medicare website to compare advantage plans available in your area and you can select the mess you take too if I recall correctly, to see which advantage plans have the cheapest formulary costs for your particular meds. It’s a bit tedious but for those prices worth a half hour of your time or so to compare plans since open enrollment is coming up now.

Here in the US our family pays over $800 a month and we have a $6,000 deductible to meet before the insurance even kicks in. Then if you’ve paid that deductible out of pocket before the end of December, we are still on the hook for 20%. Then January 1st the $6,000 deductible is back again. Or even higher depending on what plan the employer offered that year.

I’m so terribly sorry that happened. You might not get any money out of it, but if you truly believe they insurance company didn’t honor their contract (and wasn’t just a damn fine print thing) I urge you to file a complaint with the Dept of Insurance for your state. That company should be held accountable either way. Every state has one and I’d be happy to look up the website for you if you’d like.

Lynne Rocco I totally hear you. The process is a lot of red tape and players involved. How frustrating. Some states don’t have well funded DOI so they’re backlogged or aren’t run well. From what I’ve heard in the past. I used to work for an insurance company - one that prided itself in a good reputation and rating - so if our company received a complaint or investigation from the state insurance department, we took it extremely seriously. There was a department at our insurance company that solely handled cases that might become legal issues or state DOI issues and we had a team of lawyers too. I was just making sure because if you couldn’t get made whole I’d at least like the idea of putting some fear in the insurance company’s heart or getting a fine or negative report against that company on record with the state.
