I read somewhere that if you are near a large explosion on land(like falling bombs from a plane, etc) you are supposed to point your feet toward the blast like stated here, put your hands over your ears and open your mouth. Supposedly, this protects your eardrums from air getting shockwaved out of your lungs and opening your mouth allows the air room to move with the shock wave without damaging your lungs or air tract.
