If parents raised their boys to watch out for parasites like this woman, they couldn't have such a societal foothold. You have to look for the signs when you first date, and that takes a shrewd eye. My husband has a deep disdain for grifters because he had some sneaky cousins who screwed him over. He taught me to see the signs in people that tell you they're secretly looking at you with dollar signs in their eyes. It's hard, but you get the hang of it. I don't get people like that so I tend to be a chump for them. Had plenty relatives and "friends" syphon cash out of me before I learned how to spot it.
