  1.  @CounterFlow64  The problem with your argument here is that you don't think they LIE. "If they don't act on it, it's fine!"<--- until they use mental gymnastics to claim what they're doing is not OFFICIALLY acting on it. For example, I met a MAP who worked in a daycare. He CLAIMED he never acted on his impulses, but admitted to having "feelings" for one of the children at his job. Feelings so strong he would touch himself as many as 5 times during his shift. Now you tell me if he's still non offending. Or do we have to wait for the girl to grow up and alcoholic mess that finally tells everyone about the aftercare teacher who hurt her but made her keep it a secret?

  2.  @CounterFlow64  It doesn't matter. Therapy doesn't cure their impulses, and a HUGE part of why these people like kids is because they enjoy manipulating naive minds. Maps enjoy the game of manipulation and deception. They enjoy playing victim and still getting to covertly be the pr3d@tor. It's part of the emotional payoff. They cannot be trusted and must be in a sort of psychological quarantine to ensure they can't offend. Therapy is only going to help their own well being. It's not a guarantee they will not offend

  3.  @CounterFlow64  Yes, if a rational person IS rational about these impulses, they would willingly stay away from minors so as to ensure against harm. It's an easy solution. Stay away from kids. Yet...the MAP I told you about actively seeks out employment that involves his AOA. Why is that do you think? Quarantining away from minors isn't a punishment, it's common sense for safety. It's already been proven there is no cure for this kind of disorder.

  4.  @CounterFlow64  Since there's no way of knowing who is a "decent person" and who is a pathological liar, it's just safer to keep people with those impulses monitored. You'll be surprised the lengths of deception they are capable of to make people trust them. Look at Todd Nickerson. He's the sort that should never be trusted.
