uildanach2010 If that's really the case (though I have heard different) then a united Ireland makes economic sense but as we've seen with the EU economics can play second fiddle for some people.

@SkyandSpace Indeed it is so but not unexpected, if we are to regain control of our money, borders and laws the people will need to stay determined or we could be part of the chaos that the EU is creating. Obviously we will suffer adverse effects when it starts to unravel but it will be much better not to be contractually obligated.

@bucketsandshims And an independent Wales.

@gethcreator751 Can you imagine the Scots whingeing when the only cooperation they can get from the UK will be what they pay for and having to use their own currency or a Euro that is coming to be valued to reflect the bankrupt state of the EU.

@sandramutch6477 There is one choice you will certainly never have and that is whether you ever want to leave no matter what happens in the EU, your childrens future will be decided far away from the British parliament which should in all honesty no longer exist.

What are the chances a British government will be elected at the election?

@rufanuf1 A real win win for the charitable toilers on behalf of the country, stuffing themselves from both ends. Start with self promoting banal speeches fuelled by subsidised food and booze in the commons make the right contacts then depending on circumstances dear boy retire as an MEP or continue to interfere in British politics as an over entitled pompous member of the House of Lords.

uildanach2010 If the Irish economy is doing so great how come N Ireland doesn't do more of it's trade there than in the UK.

@vladescu3g ''Define independence?'' Why can't you.

@vladescu3g If that is your opinion why respond to my comment, I guess you like to dictate as it's the EU way.

@SkyandSpace The future of an EU state will be that of a vassal in a dictatorship for as long as the EU exists which at the moment looks like it will be for a short time when the history books are written.

@scottishbombolini7794 We will let you go with no strings, you've been getting more than your fair share under the Barnett formula but no worries. If you leave you'll either have your own currency or the EURO the pound is already rising again it will no doubt fluctuate that's how currency traders make their money but once we have left it will regain $140 level possibly more IMO while the EURO is heading for a big fall. You are free to think different hope for your sake you're right.

@scottishbombolini7794 I don't think you'll have much choice over anything if you're in the EU, certainly not on anything that conflicts with the goal of ever closer union. If you like the look of it try it on for size by all means but if you change your mind I think you can see what you will have to face.
