Dj Jarvis LOL what planet are you on, we are one of the top ten economies in the world and would be higher if we had never tried to be European we are not socialist or dishonorable enough for that. If we need to suspend our foriegn aid budget and use the money from red nose day etc to support our economy you would really have something to moan about.
3
I will and good luck to Ireland I think you may need it
3
The Irish will do whats best for Ireland as long as it is agreed by the other 26
3
I'd much rather be poorer and free to elect my government than statistically a little richer and controlled by the EU. That is the be all and end all of this question for me.
3
We are happy to leave our border with you open why wouldn't we be the EU just creates problems
3
Still a lot of people prefer resentment to progress.
2
Hot heads and the influence of emotion generally lead to unreasonable attitude.
2
@mysterymaverick1982 Merry Christmas to you and a happy new year.

The EU wants a border it's EU's problem
1
Great there's no issue then
1
I agree some maybe be many in ROI have hate in their hearts and heads full of historic injustices which can never realistically be assuaged. Hopefully their number and influence will decrease in time. We need to keep talking to any reasonable people there just so they know there is always an alternative to oneupmanship etc.
1
And stop buying goods from every other independent country in the world too, they always want to be even handed don't they.
1
What do you mean the proven workable solution of staying in the EU? Time for some people to wake to the new reality. As the EU negotiators say they give instructions for the UK government to follow. Arrogant bastards that they are. This party's only just started.
1
And ignoring the will of the majority of UK voters in the referendum it appears.
1
The UK government is not a dictatorship because they can be unelected. A proven workable solution cannot be offered if the EU refuse to accommodate it.
1
When the UK has agreed the future terms of the relationship it will have with the EU that will apply to the relationship Northern Ireland will have with ROI unless Northern Ireland agrees a different arrangement.
1
Northern Ireland will get what it wants
1
Brendan W Oh really, that's working well then a stunning return from our investment. Everybody loves us, I always wondered why.
1
666VICKING1 Excellent post if the EU wants to create a hard border they will have blood on their hands. If they want to help create a workable solution they could. ROI have to do what they consider is best for themselves.
1
Is Jersey in the EU?
1
The EU will hold no sway over us after March 2019.
1
I'd say the freedom to elect your government is the first requirement to have the ability to influence the state that you are in. Their are other requirements such as freedom of speech which can never be absolute for various reasons but freedom of thought is probably more important maybe this is why I am not religious.
1
I see no evidence of UK government spying on everybody Julian Assange was open in his actions and is evading the law, he is not costing as much as upwards of 3000 would be terrorists in society and how many more in jail. If people think we cooperate too much with the US they can vote for a government which offers an alternative or complain to there MP.
1
How does a state enforce things in one's head? surely you have heard of Islam and North Korea.
1
Unwarranted spying is unwarranted spying and breaks the law. I am not cognisant of the life of Julian Assange.
1
And your preferred situation would be?
1
Your description of the DUP resembles the description many portray of Roman Catholics. In the EU utopia everyone is entitled to their beliefs providing they have no influence.
1
Jakob. What court would they sue us in?
1
Ireland has a veto but the other 26 have a veto over anything Ireland wants to do and they also have the whip hand.
1
Jakob People working illegally should be locked up then deported.
1
Tom Glass If only that were possible I would enjoy
1
What makes you think it's a problem for England?
1
Kev I don't think it's ego it's a sense of identity we are comfortable with and confidence derived from centuries of evolution from the time of Magna Carta.
1
History is just a guide to how things worked or didn't work in the past, if you make yourself a prisoner to history you condemn yourself to repeating it. The experience of mass immigration in this country depends largely on the circumstances people find themselves in and there contact with it. It appears to me to be more negative than positive for the majority of people in the UK. That is I mean of the people who were UK nationals pre 1985.
1
Hannah Dyson you cannot accurately predict the future of immigration, the difference will be the UK will elects its government which will run the UK. How that will work out is ? but we will decide.
1
Hannah Dyson you seem to think there is a better alternative I don't. I think Mays heart is in the right place but she is lacking the vision and leadership to carry the party and people with her, fortunately the majority of the Tory party want to do what's best for the country first and themselves second as they benefit when the country does well. I think it is in the nature of civilisations to self destruct they progress and create wealth and then lose touch with the understanding of wealth creation and think it can be self sustaining so ignoring reality they try and rewrite the facts of life and human nature.
1
Hannah running down the NHS by funding it with more billions than ever. Blair squandered the money the economy was making after Thatcher got it performing then handed over to his poor stooge Brown just when it was set up to fail. The labour party has enough trouble running itself without trying to run the country. Sure they have come up with a few useful ideas over the years but even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Just look at the hypocrisy how many labour peers in the house of lords how many millionaire ex labour MP's how many sending their kids to fee paying schools what a shambles. The country is still trying to recover from the mess Blair created what happened to all those who benefited from his years of education education education they should be in the driving seat now with all those degrees in flower arranging and mindfulness aw c'mon get real.
1
Ashley you forget the state Britain was in when Thatcher came to power she introduced some much needed realism into labour relations and policies to inspire working class people such as myself to be more financially responsible and self motivated. There were obviously tweaks required to increase the benefits of some policies such as making sales of council houses leasehold only with a clause to prevent subsequent renting etc. But unfortunately we elected Blair who just milked things for his own grandisement.
1
I think Andrew marr's. A History of Modern Britain could be interesting, but my experience and the media is what instructs me more.
1
Sounds like you've got the future all figured out tick the boxes as your predictions come true with your skills you could make a fortune investing. Do you think martin schulz idea of a pan european health service with the ending of private healthcare would improve NHS service? If we stay in the EU.
1
James hard to believe but true, an interesting example of doublethink. It's a binary choice which is why the Brexit referendum was the ideal way to answer the question. So many people say we have changed nationalism is the past then in the next breathe are calling themselves Irish, English, French etc. I can't see it continuing forever, which will win out I can only guess but I think human nature will destroy the grand plan. As they say communism had good ideas it's just the people were the problem.
1
That's what being in the EU means.
1
I say the EU presidents are an advanced group of alien robots working to create the conditions to build the matrix. All these nationalist ideas will only exist in our heads.
1
St Malky xx
1
St Malky would you happen to know the ancestry/origin of those parasites they call travellers who cost us money, pay no taxes and know only the law of the jungle. Many talk with an Irish accent not certain but it sounds southern to me.
1
@mysterymaverick1982 Predictable! Lol. To the nackers yard, come into the 21st century we're waiting for you.
1
Taint. twill soon be time to start giving more to the EU.
