@no one J Are you saying EU states are not independent? You cannot be serious. With a single currency, centralised tax and spending authority, unitary bank regulatations and EU army what more independence could an EU state possibly desire.

@Kai-cu4cw Tough, if you want to stay in the EU all you have to do is vote for independence get public spending down from 7% of GDP to 3% either by increasing GDP or cutting spending and the EU will take you over with open arms.

@johnnicolson467 Too thick to know it or smart enough to know Labour government policies have reduced opportunities for the majority of the less advantaged apart from a few generally mediocre Labour politicians and activists which has had the unhelpful side effect of directing political debate to banal arguments about class and history making us prisoners of the past and slowing progress through an absence of reasoned debate over the way forward. We have largely squandered the opportunities our forebears created for us through their toil and sacrifice.

@alanheyes8495 Scotland has shown in this election they must have an independence referendum at some time in the next few years, my sympathy will be with the Scots who wish to remain in the union if the vote is for independence but that's democracy.

@alanheyes8495 You are under a misapprehension I am not Scottish I just believe in democracy and would add that if/when the Scots have another indie ref all SNP MP's should agree beforehand to resign if the result is for the union and stand for re election if they wish to continue as MP's.

@no one J I don't think saying they're idiots really covers it, I think they're are soul less indoctrinated shallow people who like being slaves to the diktats of the globalist consumer based oligarchy of the new aristocracy. Like Stockholm syndrome it provides relative peace and tranquility by surrendering responsibility and being tranquillised from reality with the reassuring platitudes they spew forth. Climate change is just the latest tool to distract people from issues they can affect to things they have no significant influence on, as with blaming problems on austerity. Anyone would think the brilliant minds of literature and science such as Shakespeare and Einstein went to the best universities with limitless funding and the latest hi tech computers and don't get me started on the NHS where nurses don't practice nursing.
