Those rules are their to protect the rights of the individual from over zealous governments and unscrupulous police or any other entity that wishes to cause harm. One basic fundamental difference is that in western society an individual is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Why is this important you ask? Because a person's rights are more important than the rights of the government. AREN'T YOUR RIGHTS MORE IMPORTANT TO YOU!
