  1. In Canada they raised the age from 65 to 67. We complained but did not protest. The next election comes along a few years later after the change and one candidate says, "I will reverse the age hike and put the retirement age back down to 65." That guy was elected and our retirement age is again 65. Morale of the story... Democracy works very well. Dictatorships in democracy do not. They get voted out pretty quick.

  2. In Canada we kept the age the same, increased payroll deductions slightly and now our retirement is funded for the next seventy years. We have the option of taking early retirement with a reduced payout at the age of sixty if we want to. If the country is not run like a business then there is a risk of becoming like Argentina with hyper inflation and defaulting nine times on international loans.
