  1. The Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Catholicism, Christianity, Islam, Mormonism) were all born of violence. Religion and warfare co-evolved. Look it up. Religion/politics/warfare = one. Like spacetime.

  2. Please see 'Denial of a Final Death' (Ernest Becker). Is it better that one believes in the Tooth Fairy, Teddy Bear, or Santa Claus because they feel better?! We have one life to live. There is life before death, not after death. "Dead is dead." With some STEM schooling it's easy to discover meaning and purpose in the awe, complexity and beauty of Nature and the cosmos. Evolution, biological and cosmological, is god. It is our duty to make our own meaning find our own purpose, and write our own life narrative in a cold dangerous purposeless meaningless universe.

As a citizen in the "city" -- the public sphere -- behavior should be tolerant, inclusive and secular in keeping with the idea of safe equitable interaction amongst peoples in a world with 4300+(!) disparate and incongruous major and minor religions, sects, denominations and cults. Religion should otherwise be privatized.
