  1. Bright Jupiter and dim Saturn come into conjunction (VERY close) soon, low in SW sky one hour after dark. Mars very high SE. Venus bright low in SE one hour before daybreak. Big Dipper almost overhead 4am, front dipper stars point to Polaris, (the North Star), like on your wall flag. Beautiful constellation Orion ("the Hunter") seen SE 10:30pm, Orion's belt (three bright stars in a row) point down and left to Sirius (the Dog Star) low above horizon SE, brightest star in sky

  2. I'd like viewers to note winter "Ray-o-vision." During the leafy growing seasons -- summer and fall -- the woods are overgrown and vision is limited by the growth and shady camouflage of greens, yellows, and browns and dark bark, all mixed together. The eye has a hard time contrasting and discriminating. However during winter when weeds, grasses, brush, and understory have died off and tree leaves are down and snow has fallen, this allows penetrating vision deep into the woods revealing the topography. Often, unseen features and great vistas are revealed. "Ray-o-vision."

Clean water and plenty of it: Fill your large utility plastic bucket or tub with clean snow and bring it in and you will put it in a medium-sized (40-qt) stainless steel stock pot (pricey) with drainage faucet and handle. Your medium-size stock pot is on a corner of your hot stove. You will fill the pot up and let it boil for 10 minutes. You will attach an inexpensive stainless steel braided hose from the stock pot faucet to your larger sealed/covered stainless steel or aluminum storage tank a few feet away from your stove. Your sterilized water will flow by gravity. Ideally, place a simple filter in line before the storage tank. Boom. Meanwhile, refill the stockpot with snow. Plenty of clean sterilized filtered water. You could just open a USPS PO box so nutbags like me could send you, private-like, good crap. But OK. You wanna do all the crap yourself, I get it. You could even put a splitter on your braided hose with a valve and run a line through your log wall out to your 2x2x4 ft aluminum feed trough where you take hot baths. I like it. Diabolical.

  7. Hey, Kyle. Dishes, plates, and glasses, right!! 😬 Arrrrgh! Sleigh in paper plates, paper bowls, and cups. Pretty light. Somewhat reusable. When done, burn. Or shred a little, then compost (eco-friendly!) used paper products, away from cabin. Boom. No wash bin, drying and crap.
