@@LTNetjak What??? The Soviets absolutely wiped the floor with the mujahideen everytime they fought, but, as usual, the mujahedeen would escape back to their caves and wait them out and the Soviets withdrew due to political reasons. In no way did the Afghan war show that the Soviet Army was weak.
But it is incredible how hypocritical you are. Because in 10 years in Afghanistan, the Soviets suffered just 9,500 combat deaths and a handful of equipment while killing 100k Mujahedeen fighters. Meanwhile, in Vietnam, the US, despite doing less than 20% of the fighting, suffered almost 60,000 combat deaths in just 8 years while losing 10,000 aircraft. If anything, the Vietnam war showed that the US is far from what propaganda showed them to be, and is why US generals concluded that the only way to stop the Soviet Army was to use tactical nukes. Not even that, but the US also lost in Afghanistan just recently.
So, in what way did the Soviet-Afghan war showed that the Soviet Army was weak in some way?
