For a person who is both elderly... and wealthy... the "death tax" will be an issue. Right now, the death tax in the US isn't unreasonable; but I think that the death tax will be going up in the future, and the level of assets that is exempt from the death tax will likely be reduced. So in the event that the death tax is increased substantially, there could be benefit for an elderly wealthy person to move all his assets to a foreign country, and to then renounce his US citizenship.

@Fauci is-a-liar What if a wealthy person has most of his money in crypto, but then.... sadly..... loses all of his crypto in a boating accident?
