  2. UNDER CURRENT RULES, the answer is an unequivocal "yes". The only question is whether the rules will be changed in the future. At some point, there's going to have to be an overhaul of the social security system (the US simply can't afford it), and at that point, they might decide to "shaft" people who gave up their US citizenship.

  5.  @heavenismydomicile3280  The reason the government put his father in prison (IMO) is that he was openly defying the rules, and encouraging others to do the same. If he had simply refused to pay his taxes, but had kept very quiet about it, I think that the government would not have put him in prison. They might have confiscated every asset of his that they could find, but they wouldn't have put him in prison. And for his part, Peter Schiff does not tell people to disobey the rules.
