The performance of the Turkish lira vs USD has been quite abysmal over the last 10 years: https://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=USD&to=TRY&view=10Y That said, I am long-term bullish on the country, and I think that real estate in Istanbul could do reasonably well in dollar terms over the next 5-10 years. And I think it would be great to have a Turkish passport. Still, I would have to be able to find an honest and competent property manager; trying to manage real estate from 7,000 miles away is not something I would undertake.
