  1. Do high taxes make "us" happier? "Us" is not a monolith. Under a progressive tax system, I would say YES.... those at the low end of the income scale ARE happier when OTHER PEOPLE are paying high taxes. But for those among the wealthiest 2%.... it's a mixed bag. Hollywood liberals, for example, LOVE high taxes.
