  1. Yeah, there's no way that the US government will ever change the laws to eliminate citizenship-based taxation. And on another point, if/when inflation begins to take off, those who have capital to invest are really going to be punished for having US citizenship, since capital gains will be taxed on "phantom" gains that are due solely to inflation. Meanwhile, those who have citizenship of ANY OTHER COUNTRY have the option of avoiding capital gains taxes altogether.

  2. What's the difference if the Iranian government lets a citizen renounce... or not? If an Iranian can obtain citizenship from another country.... and if he's able to live in a country other than Iran, his Iranian citizenship shouldn't be a burden.
