  2. Indeed. I could renounce my citizenship, and then live in California as an illegal alien; I'd be able to vote, get free medical care, and probably get other freebies from the government.... AND, I wouldn't have to pay any federal income tax. The only downside would be that getting out of the US... and then back in again.... would be a hassle.

  3. There is the EB-5 immigrant investor program. I don't know the details, but if you've got money, it would probably be pretty easy to get a green card.

  4.  @elzoog  There'll be cuts in social security; no question about that. The question is whether Congress will specifically punish former American citizens (i.e., those who had previously renounced). They MIGHT decide to punish them.... but only to score political points; not because there'll be much money saved by doing so.
