  1. I don't see a 100% inheritance tax coming to the US. But Biden and the Dems have made no secret of the fact that they want to dramatically increase the "death tax". First, they want to significantly lower the level of the exemption (exemption from estate taxes); next, they want to eliminate the "stepped up basis cost" that heirs to estates currently benefit from, i.e., they want to tax the assets based on the ORIGINAL PURCHASE PRICE. And then, of course, Biden wants to dramatically increase the capital gains tax (on amounts above $1 million), which tax would apply to assets transferred from the deceased to the heirs.
