This doesn't kill the metaverse. Zuck is all about everybody and all off the experiences being interconnected. Meta and Microsoft are working together....like have you read anything about this or are you just bandwagoning on the FB/Meta hate train? If anything Meta is betting in favor of other companies creating content that can still be accessed on their vr headsets.

The Metaverse is here already. Youtube is a metaverse. There are many metaverses within the "Metaverse". They are just evolving.

@kenbrunet6120 Yeah, people do that now already. And by the time it's that good, we won't be cut off in virtual worlds. We will be going between virtual and real worlds. Digital objects overlaid on top of reality. Mixed reality. And nobody is forcing you to be in it either way. You can live in the past. That's fine.

@apr2499 You have no idea then. And the metaverse isn't a "world". It's the internet. It's just the internet with 3D space you can interact in. That's it. It's already here, just flat. Online gaming, chat rooms, forums, all metaverses. Just disconnected ones. This push into spatial computing is about connecting those, and making it more similar to how we interact naturally. I don't get why it's so hard for people to grasp this.

If you had a a business would you not want your product advertised...would you not want it advertised to people who would actually be interested in it? Meta/FB offers free products. They employ tons of people too. They need money to pay those people and fund research and development of new products. The entire point of a business is to make money...wow!!!!! So nefarious!!! Guess we should stop doing everything because everybody is trying to make money. People have become millionaires and billionaires selling the apps and games they developed for the quest in just a few years. Meta isn't the only person making money.

Hell, I could literally do nothing but explore planets in No Man's Sky and not do anything else and still react in awe and wonder to something I find on another planet. Still remember my first planet that had bubbles seeping out of the ground going into the sky getting bigger and bigger with 2 moons in the sky....gorgeous. breathtaking. Let these people live under their rocks I guess.

The metaverse is just the internet. It's the internet with a 3D skin slapped on it. Nothing more. They are designing VR headsets. Meta has barely done anything for virtual worlds. Do y'all not realize that regular everyday people create the experiences? Hell people in the know with VR would probably appreciate Meta actually throwing more money at developers for better content to be created. Right now it's mostly small teams pouring their heart and souls into whatever they are making.

@PeBoVision Because you keep referring to Meta as making the key. As far as the metaverse goes...they aren't doing much. They barely throw any money at developers. They do make the key, its a VR headset and the software that makes that headset and other programs work together in a seamless manner. They aren't making the Metaverse. The Metaverse has existed before facebook tried to coin the pre-existing term. You don't know what you are talking about.....and the vive 2...even with the hardware downgrades the Quest is hands down the better experience. Especially if you already have a PC.
