Do you even know what VR chat is? It's not a game? It's a virtual hub, filled with world other people have made. Some are games some are just spaces to chill and talk to people. You can meet people from everywhere. Maybe your friend has better friends in there than the real world...ones that don't look down on them.

@peterbelanger4094 No it's not. The obvious next step of VR is AR. Blending the virtual world and ours with an overlay of "holograms". Even still as it is now, VR is much more social than people like you think and everything about it's development right now is about taking more and more of that "isolation" away. Like people said that about books too...quit being an old fuddy duddy.

@alwaysyouramanda Why? If anything this would increase neck muscle strength over time. Not to mention, the headsets are getting smaller and smaller.

@thisisaname5589 You are just a scared old man aren't you? I for one, will take a reality where I can create whole worlds for others to experience. Where I can work with somebody from anywhere in the world as if we were in the same room together. Where the people will have the most control because they are the ones building the worlds. The metaverse isn't just FB. Or Microsoft. Or any of them. It takes away to barriers between us that our 2D internet has created. And brings humanity back into our technology. It's not evil, but there are evil people out there. That's the truth when it comes to any great things we create. It's how it is used. The future is already here. It's too late to run from it. And like, quit believing the Hollywood movies. That's fiction, not real life. Nobody wants that reality.

@ChrisBa303 You realize it's only been like 2 years right? VR and AR is the future of everything. There is a reason all the big companies are pouring money into R&D. The headsets are all about to get quite small and have a big jump in processing power. Even video game consoles took a while to catch on in their infancy. And VR isn't just about video games. So basically, pretty sure you are wrong. It's already being used to train people for jobs...it's going pretty mainstream. And after the next year it's only.goimg to keep growing.

@TheAdamSplitter VR from back when you are talking about isn't even the infancy of VR. That's like the Zygote forming in the womb. Just because technology hadn't reached what the people with the ideas to manifest VR doesn't mean it would never catch on. The tech is here and it's definitely catching on. Today's VR isn't like 80s Nintendo VR headset. It's a whole different ball game. Either way the future is XR, augmented reality holograms overlaid on the physical world.

@thisisaname5589 Dude they were on literal drugs actually cutting themselves off. Many people have gained more social activity in their life due to VR. The allegory to escaping from reality isn't lost on me. Reality is still there, it's not like you really can exist in VR fully and by the time you can it won't even be VR. VR will be like an accessory to AR. And you won't have to be immersed in that... hyper-reality? at all times if you don't want to. I however, will have my world skinned to look like a fantasy land though. Lol
