The truth is that men wrote it to control people.

@loweffortgaming2593 Just let them wander on in ignorance.

The Kundalini religion also believes this. I've always thought it was strange that the snake encouraging them to learn and be knowledgeable was demonized in that story...like God made us to be ignorant? He just wanted us to be stupid? What's the point of freewill then? I think he wanted us to eat that fruit, isn't he all knowing? Some grand plan or whatever?

Gnosticism is just the occult side of Christianity. Like the Kabalah is to the Torah.

@FlockofAngels The truth was always hidden from the masses too stupid to understand it. That's why they got the watered down fables to get them to think a certain way. Then they may be ready for the lessons after the groundwork of thought was there. But even then most looking to learn got turned away. And then it was destroyed by ignorance and fear.

@termsofusepolice Not as quickly or as easily. You couldn't just check sources and verify them within minutes back then.

What's weird is how Christianity just rejected it's deeper truths. The Gnostic bible wasn't allowed to be viewed by the general public. They were only allowed to see the common bible. Just like Judaism is the exoteric form and kabbalah is their esoteric(occult) form. Kabbalah wasn't for the common people. It was only for those who had learned enough from the common public bibles. The gnostics were very selective and wouldn't allow just anybody to learn the deeper truths of the occult side of Christianity...so it's not surprising they were turned on by the ignorant masses. But this was how most religions were back then. They all had an exoteric (for the public) and esoteric( for those who had devoted their life) The crusades and hunger to use religion as control didn't vibe with gnostic teachings and they were persecuted for it. Christianity literally cut themselves off from the truths of their religion that the bible was just a child's textbook to get you ready for the deeper truths.

So isn't this religion closer to what Christianity should have been..wasn't Gnostic religion basically the esoteric side of the christian religion?

@_delevicate_2137 Gods plan for everything says we have no choice. How could he have died for us to have free will and it's all a part of his plan? It can't be both.

@emilyroberts5388 um no. And Mormonism is even further removed from the gnostic teachings. Just because it cherry picked some stuff from it doesn't mean they follow gnostic teachings.

@bryanreed742 This! Why would our creator want us to remain ignorant unless they were hiding something from us, afraid of us rising up. Especially when we are later told by Jesus that we will do as he does and so much more. It doesn't .ale sense unless we were supposed to eat that fruit.
