It somehow made more sense to claim ignorance over 20 years than it did to just admit to being queer. He even attempted to hurt himself in his humiliation, and only revealed that he was bi much later in '93 — a cruel reminder of the pressures still facing LGBTQIA+ people to this very day. That's exactly why efforts must be consciously mounted and constantly renewed to combat the powers that be, and why political power must truly lie with the people, and not with a class of aristocrats or masters above them. To your point, such a tearing down of power does require strengths of many kind. But rather than saying "let the strong rule the weak", we should say "let us empower all to be strong and defend those who can't be"

Of course invading neighbors and forcing your system on them is imperialist, but that isn't intrinsic to communism and more than any other system. What do you call it when America invades Middle Eastern countries and imposes a corrupt republican democracy? Spreading "freedom"? Some other euphemism for murderous imperialist invasion? Communism and imperialism are not the same thing. Rome wasn't communist. A communist nation could employ imperialist tactics, but it doesn't need to by any means. Cuba did not become communist by imperialist invasion, and Cuba is not communist today because of the USSR which fell 30 years ago. If anything, capitalism has a far greater track record with imperialism than communism does by miles

If we have problems with lifelong senators who we do get to vote for on a regular basis, having officials near the top who are beyond the people's reach is fundamentally anti-democratic (looking at you too, US Supreme Court)

In fact, there is no such thing as legitimate government separate from or placed above the people at all. "The state" is a myth: Only people are real. Any government which flouts this fundamental truth is inherently corrupt and deserves to be utterly abolished

Protest, riot, civil disobedience, unrest, whatever you want to call it, that's the truest expression of political will, and I am content to embrace that chaos rather than seeking to crackdown on it or suppress it by state violence. This is also why I'm not much of a fan of representative democracy, but I prefer direct democracy and much smaller governments, so that, say, the will of people in Georgia doesn't need to affect the outcome of elections in Oregon. Syndicalism is a preferable arrangement to centralized authoritarianism
