This is literally the rhetoric of white supremacist American fascists. Homophobia and transphobia have nothing to do with Socialism. They are regressive forms of ignorance that deserve to be lined up and destroyed as much as any counter-revolutionary force ever has. Trans people keep winning, comrades 😙

Like much Theory written in times and spaces far removed from our own, I am glad to be appraised of it, but I am disinterested in adopting the rhetoric in its entirety (not that that's to be expected of a thinking reader in general). I'm sure I'll be accused of Western decadence or some such, but I ain't buying the pervasive current of impotent machismo infused herein. Authority is to be expected of strong leaders, but the appeals here are often to Regressivism and backwards ideologies, not forward-thinking social orders that don't seek to quash the human spirit into ugly and outmoded concepts like gender norms. Old guards who seem to insist that such prejudice is somehow necessary for Socialism to succeed seem to have forgotten the strong de-emphasis on gender roles that the USSR adopted, considering as it did those ideas to be the Western Decadence, not their abandonment. This sort of reestablishment of bigotry is essentially just cultural differences being confused or lumped in with Theory in order to justify ignorance and prejudice while accusing those who call it such of "decadence". It's the same homophobia we've fought amongst Regressive Western establishments, ironically, for generations. My comrades aren't bigots, and that's the way I like it

Thomas Sankara showed us that old-world bigotry holds the revolution back, and he dashed the regressive notion that progress is inherently decadent or a symptom of imperialist rot. Anyone who has read his speeches would know this, and would know that the prejudice they harbor prevents them from being a true comrade

It's also no different from the Christian fascists who claim the same sort of thing: that it's "anti-Catholic" or "anti-Christian" to call homophobia "bigotry" and to denounce its proponents. Fundamentalism which breeds regressivism is an impedance to socialism. I'd cite Thomas Sankara for that notion

@jashannnnnnnn To be very clear, it is not an Islamic or Middle Eastern phenomenon, it is a pan-religious fundamentalist phenomenon. Again, American Christian-fascists are no better about this at all and say the same things. The "Western Decadence" argument for denouncing LGBTQ+ people is almost the exact same within the West as it is without it

@zed7536 I hate homophobia no matter what cloth it hides itself under. The cloth is not the problem itself. I have nothing but love for my comrades of faith, but I also love my LGBTQ+ comrades: The Islamophobe is the repulsive equal of the homophobe. I have nothing but contempt for bigots of all stripes who would persecute any of my comrades, no matter the excuses for their hateful ignorance. One who would persecute my friends counts themselves out of my friendship, and that is the way we should all carry ourselves

You accuse Marxists of liberalism, yet you adopt ideas popular amongst neoliberal fascists yourself. It's a joke: Bigots justifying homophobia with "Western Decadence" are just regressive bigots, not "purer" Socialists. I know many comrades who have sacrificed much of what little privilege they have as queer Westerners, being arrested trying to block Israeli ships from docking alongside Palestinian comrades. Are those people decadent liberals, too, O regressive? Death to persecution of the innocent, swift and long-overdue death
