I was just talking to a friend about how Seasonal Affect Disorder (SAD) is as much or more about our work lives as it is about the weather or the daylight. Going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark isn't just depressing in and of itself, it's depressing because we can sense more than normally how much our lives are dominated by our bosses, and how much the fruits of our labor are alienated from us. Even the Sun and the Moon will be better under Socialism!

@EngineerMFB I think I understand you, but that's a rather poor way of putting it for two reasons: 1) Such a period must be understood to be temporary and transitional. The goal, in as swift a time as is prudent, is to abolish private property and the market altogether. Anything short of this goal is mere capitalist reform, and is neither socialism nor communism. 2) Capitalism as a political ideology is the control of society by capitalists, by the 1%. In the above transitional period, capitalists must be suppressed, must be barred from the political sphere entirely, and instead, the working class must control the mechanisms of governance and means of production, even as it strives to rid itself of capitalist modes of production with the goal of establishing communism. Again, that is what many call socialism. If we are describing the same thing, then abandon the "capitalism" rhetoric, and just say that you advocate for socialism

@EngineerMFB After all, it's not like anyone imagines a switch can be flipped to immediately complete a revolution. There's a whole science to this stuff, classmate. You'd be intrigued by its advances over 200 years

Communism is impossible without the intent to phase out private ownership. What you're describing sounds a bit likr a transitional period after capitalism but before communism is achieved. It goes by many names, but one of them is The Dictatorship of the Proletatiat. Some people even just use the word socialism to describe this period
