  2. That bit about the "Gnostic Left" is indeed beyond ridiculous, and speaks more to the Millenarian paranoia of American "Evangelical" Christians than it does to anything else. But if anyone is interested in academic examinations of historical Gnosticism (of both the Christian and Jewish variety), Dr. Justin Sledge and his channel ESOTERICA have some excellent vids on the subject! He covers all manner of topics regarding ancient and medieval and even modern science, religion, and arcana, with spotlights on topics within Christianity, Judaism, and Islam most especially, and he does so from the educated and respectful perspective of a dialectical materialist. Highly recommend his content to anyone with an interest in understanding not only the esoteric histories themselves, but the sociopolitical ramifications those belief systems had, both for those in and out of power. Especially easy to recommend to a (leftist) academic crowd as seems to populate this channel's community
