@metalmythology6282 The USA is not nearly as ideologically united as you suggest, but again, you seem fixated on a military invasion by a foreign power. That's not what people are referring to when the speak of America's or the West's "collapse". Great empires can and do fall from within even more readily than they are toppled from without. And to the point of ideological unity: as an American, the notion does not scare me, but it excites me

@metalmythology6282 My classmate, the entire history of the United States is one of violently expanding to outside territories it had no business in, beginning with the colonies on the Atlantic Coast. The military superpower that was the Soviet Union wasn't undermined by external invasion, but from within — America's "collapse", when it comes, will likely be similar, and the empire's "strength" will be the very cause of it

@yaelz6043 I don't understand your comment, what do you mean a westerner can't be leftist "unless they personally get a bigger payout for it"? If leftists must personally profit from leftist policies to be considered leftists, what is it about western would-be leftists that makes that pursuit inherently capitalist while the same doesn't apply for others living elsewhere? It's clearly different to be a leftist within empire as opposed to without, but I don't understand your assertion

@metalmythology6282 Being powerful doesn't preclude collapse. The British Empire was the most powerful on earth when the colonists in what would become the USA successfully revolted. You probably celebrate that fact multiple days a year, but then you seem to forget it before making comments like these

@metalmythology6282 Looking back at what you're replying to, it seems like you stopped reading halfway through my first comment or something. I never even said the British Empire fell, and I was pretty clear later on about what I was referring to by "collapse"

Mao himself made similar claims about the paper tigers of the west many times. These are things ideologues say, they are goals given form in propaganda. It's less for us to denounce propaganda and its forms and more for us to logically counter it, and even meet it with propaganda of our own

@natanliber9592 Does "settler-colonialism and imperialism are as indefensible as racial apartheid" lack nuance? Could nuance excuse such things even a fraction? Is "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free" unclear, or likewise lacking in apologetic nuance?

@natanliber9592 He and Yugopnik and JT have talked a lot about Israel, much more than 15 minutes, though I don't think they've done episodes solely focusing on it. At any rate you are likely well aware of their take if you're familiar with their work. More generally though, when "nuance" actually means "room for apologia", I'm sure it's not something they're chomping at the bit to dive into
