  1. People will say this, but then will turn around and say things like "Ah it's not my fault the natives were genocided, that happened in the past!" History is built on the bones of the past, and we are inheritors of its legacy. It falls to us not to ride evil status quos or to accept historical narratives spoon-fed to us by hegemonic authorities, but to yes, see that history is living, and understand our place in shaping in it, even and especially when that means going against the reigning grain
