  1.  @PiOfficial  To OP's point, we also make it a point not to stare into things like the sun. "Daylight" headlights are an absolute blight on dark roads when they're coming the other direction, they almost completely blind me in some cases and at that point you just have to remember the road from a few seconds ago and white knuckle the wheel hoping nothing changes

  2.  @Wooble57  I am indeed in favor of total abolition and fundamental replacement of American policing, and I'm sure the reasons why would be too much to get into with someone who didn't live so close to such a corrupt institution: Not of "policing" in general as a concept, but of American policing as it exists (which is, combined, the third largest military organization on the planet by spending). But what I really meant was that it's much easier to expect an officer to know the difference between "normal" and "too bright" when there are literally only two options for lighting on a car, but with the variable lighting coming out today, lacking any electronic equipment to objectively measure lumen count at a fixed point on the windshield or something like that (which could certainly be done), it would ultimately be left to individual officers to determine whether the light coming out of any given car is illegally excessive or not. Thus, the vast majority of pull-overs for that particular crime (excluding the obviously undeniable examples only) would be subject to discretionary policing. Forgive me if I came off a little strong previously, this is just an issue that affects me and occupies my mind regularly, as you might imagine. Have a good upcoming week

  3.  @Wooble57  Problem with lack of standardization is that it leaves it up to the cops' individual discretion as to whether or not they stop someone for these light infractions, and only somebody who hasn't been paying attention to American policing would encourage the system to empower discretionary stops like that, for reasons I hardly need to list
