The throttle on wheel or column and its a lever you advance Should never got ridd of crank start as you never got stuck If their was tiniest ammount of power you could crank and they'd go Brutus would be pumping oil and fuel to engine why doesn't start strat away You could hear the gear reduction of the starter just like the early chrysler So Brutus must be high compression engine and other must be low compression It's like a diesel engine Hugh pistons big bore stroke massive torque to only maximum 1400 rpm Diesel trucks gear change 1500 to 1700 maximum 2200 then governor kicks in not advisable Best gear change 1500 optimum time for gear change and engine performance If you get video on driving trucks they show how when training 1500 is what they require as maximum I used to have be evaluated by the company I drove for every year or two under ohs Then the instructor would grade you and up date any new laws you wearnt aware of if you failed you wasn't allowed to drive until passing another test at a later date Cheers mate π¦π¦πΊπ

All engines shoot flames even modern ones But we don't see them due to exhaust manifolds If you start up new engines without exhaust manifolds same thing My brother used to rebuild engines and test run them without manifolds Same big flame and sound unbelievable only run few minutes to check oil press or if rattles Even if you star then with extractor manifolds the noise and flames are still there This looks like no manifolds or extremely short ones My guess reason two gear shift it one for high ratio Gear lever on outside because to small inside as you see their cramped for room If you notice when taking off it had plenty speed then moved to high gears and laboured as track short But would fly on open tracks It looked like reduction drive like old lawn mowers use to have you'd crank up a spring then flick a lever and the spring would crank engines They used to wear out all the time so most put pull and rope manually wind on and pull How modern day pull mower made and have a spring to wind rope on old day was reversed Now some key start But this looks like using same where winding as spring up to turn engine over Cheers mate π¦π¦πΊπ
