I think only thing on wheels that would come close to sound noise and waves That would be a drag cars different sound but unbelievable noise and sound waves hitting your chest Also back then no traction controls and from memory manual gear shifting no paddles Very much driver skills was part of the variations as wel It's why they got the name here The screaming deamons are in town

To put the sound in perspective I live 20 minutes from our city centre In suburb area's of my city Adelaide Australia 🇦🇺 When they raced in the city here You could hear them this clearly 20 min drive away I never went to race but noise must have been hughe at track It was a different era and now lacks the appeal back then Alot more raw racing and every race you never knew who was going to win Where's now so uniformed and sterile that who ever leads generally wins the race Back then there was more variation to allow manufacturers to design cars under the rules Now they're so stricted it doesn't allow them much scope and basically the vechiles end up the same They now concentrate on air flow to giant a tenth of a second then lose of noise it lost its appeal to a lot It doesn't mean less skills but different and unfortunately less appealing to the older stile racing
