Sadly voters won’t remember who created this debt just who was in power when economy slows down. This is true for all countries

One thing good for Indonesia is that it still has a relatively low debt level

I think it is smart of Japan (also Canada, Australia) of main focusing on getting skilled/educated immigrants since those will integrate much easily into existing society.

But it’s the population that keeps voting for governments that make the wrong long term decisions.

I think you’re thinking of Saudi Arabia leadership not Dubai’s

@skp8748 I’ve heard similar thing from a successful Chinese businesswoman (a friend) whom has traveled the world but ended up sending her daughter to USA to live saying that she felt immigrants felt more welcoming then in Europe and some other countries. I still think that USA should focus on legal immigration since still not sure if those coming without much education or skill if their children would be able to climb the economic ladder and therefore have resentment build up of not getting the “American Dream”.

But there’s also a lot of corruption in that field. Our small USA IT startup shared a office with a construction firm (near Mumbai) who covers their windows with newspaper whenever someone comes over to collect a cash bribe for construction projects.

Maybe another way is to build a lot of high speed trains to surrounding areas where people can live

Not if they just focus on educated immigrants

I think one difference between East Asian (Japan, Korea…) and western “lost generation” is the education pressure that were put on East Asian kids from very young age in school and the let down right afterwards if not get into good college/job vs in the developed western countries the depression starts mostly in at middle age. As a second generation American (parents from Asia) I still see much optimism from young people that didn’t do well in school. Of course I might be wrong and it might be different for many people/situations.

It depends where (which city) you’re living

If you believe those numbers. I am living in China now and I don’t.

@vishipsherrah that maybe true just saying he’s not the one building the skyscraper wall in the desert

I think the US Gex X (which I am one of) is still much more optimistic then in Japan because the Japanese put so much emphasis on education at young age so if can’t get immediately into good college/job they are much more depressed. Americans for better or worse usually gets depressed at middle age.

If your wife Japanese? Only ask because in Japan immigration is usually very hard from what I’ve heard. I would think Japan/Canada housing should be similar in that cities very expensive but rural areas much cheaper.

Would think that a prices for tourists did not rise since their currency has devalued against their currency
