  3. Maybe once a species have the technology/power to travel the galaxy it also means that they increase the probability to make a mistake and destroy their home planet via war or other reasons.

  4. Probably because we are not advanced enough technology wise yet to be able to analyze the object. Just like before when they thought earth was at center of universe or that it was flat.
