  2. To protect the forests the world needs to give financial incentives for countries with the forests to keep them vs plowing them for agriculture otherwise it will steadily disappear.

Somewhat surprising thing is that many of the successful/highly educated Asians (that live in East Asia)I know don’t want their children to go through the education system and stress that at least partially contributed to themselves being successful. One of the keys for western countries that is more laidback on education is to maintain an environment that is attractive to these immigrants who have many choices of where to go.

  7. China is scared to allow any religious or non religious organization thrive since it does not treat its own people too well so am afraid of other group gaining loyalty from the average person.

  16. The rich guys son will probably not be as driven by money since growing up he misses not having his dad around. This is probably why throughout history and different cultures wealth only lasts a few generations.

  17. Any radical religion leads to dark times for its population just look at the middle/dark ages which lasted over a 1000 years. From the end of the Roman civilization to 16th century there was very little development....can even say it declined.

  19. This is the big difference between legal and illegal immigrants. The legal ones have to be smart enough or wealthy enough to be able to come to the USA so more likely would have learned English and within a generation the whole family would likely have risen up to middle class or above regardless of where you came from.

  20. But besides those anti government or regular criminals the ones that hate it the most are other lower level government officials (not involved in monitoring) who is afraid of being watched now doing naughty things (like visiting mistress/prostitution….).

  28. True every country has been conquered, enslaved or mistreated at one time or another. It does not help to blame others (especially over 100 years ago)....it is only helpful to learn from one’s mistakes.

  33. HellsDumpling I think Europeans conquered the world also because there was constant long term wars between countries in Europe so acquiring lands/weath overseas was very important to stay competitive vs fellow European countries.

  44. In the developed world democracy/capitalism is best but there has to be less control over government by special interest groups and wealthy people. People should not need license to do many non life threatening jobs (like beautician/hair cutters...). Almost all working people can afford to purchase stuff it is the services of fellow people that they cannot afford.

  48. It is easy to bash the big bad corporations but it is the consumers with their money that determines how a product is made and under what conditions. Vast majority of consumers want whatever product that gives them the most perceived value. If the companies do not give that to them they will go to the next supplier/retailer.
