I think why some European countries took over a lot of the world was because of the constant wars that happened within Europe with no one country dominating all the others. So there was a constant fear of losing out strategic balance of power once certain countries started getting more powerful from conquering other places outside Europe.

@Crashed131963 Not enough French people willing to settle in where they conquered in the part they sold since so they thought was going to lose it sooner or later also they needed the money for wars in Europe.

@jfkst1 yeah but they got the guns and industrialized because they needed to keep up with the Jones, Jose, Schmidt…instead of enjoying themselves like China which got fireworks, porcelain…
