@TheBanana93 He was criticizing the media. And correctly so: It was Cat 5. for a brief moment above the very warm Gulf waters. As usual it went down while approaching land and as always being over land reduced it further. And as usual it probably will strengthen to some extent when leaving the peninsular. The extent depending mainly on the temperature of the ocean off Daytona +/- 50 miles. Now hurricanes are not entirely predictable. That is exactly why predictions like "worst in 100 years" are nonsense. That smells of sensationalism and weakens the credibility of future warnings.

@Deathwish026 Oh really ? Well, our house in Bonita Springs (just South of Ft. Myers) is made of bricks and concrete and its roof covered with concrete tiles, glued and attached with screws. It has survived 3 major hurricanes without any damage.
